Introduction

9 Days/10 Nights: Bangkok – Prachuap Khiri Khan- Chumpon – Khanom – Khao Sok National Park & Cheow Lan Lake – Tubkaek Beach in Krabi

After a short stay in Bangkok, head to the South, to discover hidden secret paradises, unknown by mass tourism.

Attractions in the South are certainly full of nature’s dream images: white sand beaches, turquoise bays, idyllic islands …! But this trip to the south is also intended to satisfy the travelers in search of calm, authenticity,  unseen, and eager to discover the hidden treasures of Thailand.

A trip in perfect symbiosis between relaxation and unusual adventures! A safari in search of wild elephants, a boat trip with pink dolphins and an exploration of the oldest rainforest in the world and lazing on the white sand beach of Tubkaek Beach.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: BANGKOK

Upon your arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, you will be greeted by your local English-speaking guide and escorted in a private A/C vehicle with driver to your hotel located in the heart of Bangkok.

After your check-in at the hotel (after 02.00 pm), relax and enjoy some free time.

Stay one night in a hotel located in the middle of a bustling district of this fascinating capital city.

In the evening, a welcome dinner is served at the hotel.

Optional: In the afternoon, you can take a long-tail boat ride on the Chao Phraya River, the “River of Kings”, and venture into the maze of canals or “Khlongs”. A unique way to discover the many facets of the Capital, formerly known as the “Venice of the East”, and the traditional lifestyle of locals along the waterways.

DAY 2: PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN PROVINCE

After your breakfast, meet your English-speaking guide at the lobby of the hotel and, with a private A/C vehicle with driver, head towards the tropical south of Thailand.

In Petchaburi, visit the stunning caves of Tham Khao Luang. Once in the parking lot, walk up the hill and face a gang of cheeky monkeys looking for food. Look out your bags! Inside the cave, you will discover dozens of chedis, over 148 different statues of the Buddha including a 14-metre-long reclining Buddha, several altars and three hermits overseeing each of the three chambers once frequented by King Rama IV. Light shining down in the cave on the beautiful golden Buddha statues from a hole above creates a unique mystical atmosphere.

Continue to your hotel in Prachuap Khiri Khan.

After check-in you can enjoy a free afternoon or if you love wildlife and nature, make a half day safari (optional) in Kui Buri National Park known to be the best place in Thailand to spot elephants and gaurs, the biggest cattle species, in their natural habitat.

You stay one night in a quiet resort of Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Optional: By 3-4 pm, leave your hotel towards the beautiful Kui Buri Wildlife Sanctuary for a half-day safari to discover wild elephants and other large mammals such as Gaur (Wild Buffalo of Asia).

DAY 3: CHUMPHON TOWN

This morning pass by the small fishing village of Ban Ao Noi, and visit Wat Ao Noi, a stunning golden teak wooden temple. Take the stairs connecting the two bays Ao Noi and Ao Khan Kradai and leading to Tham Phra Non, a cave hosting a reclining Buddha. Along the way you can also enjoy incredible views of the bay.

After a lunch at a local restaurant, you will go to Chumphon, where you will spend one night.

After the check-in at your hotel in Chumpon, take the rest of the afternoon free at leisure.

DAY 4: SOUTHERN THAILAND

In Langsuan, stop at one of the many fruit stalls along the road to enjoy local tropical fruits: durian, rambutan, mangosteen, banana or zalacca (depending on the season).

Further south, in Chaiya (former capital of the Srivijaya empire), visit the Wat Phra Boromathat temple. The unusual and square layers of this temple are adorned with gold, while it also contains smaller chedis, comparable to the temples of Central Java.

You will have lunch in a local restaurant in the pretty, traditional fishing village of Baan Phum Riang.

Continue to Khanom Beach, where you will spend 2 nights in a boutique resort with beautiful ocean views near Nai Plao Beach.

DAY 5: SOUTHERN THAILAND

Khanom is a quiet and peaceful seaside resort, away from mass tourism, yet offers enough activities to not get bored, charming hotels and some talented restaurants that will delight your taste buds. Here, no loud noise of long-tail boats constantly landing tourists, no bars with thunderous music, but some nice little local beach restaurants.

Beaches of fine white sand stretching for 9 km, lush tropical greenery, karstic mountains that seem to touch the sky, quiet and authentic fishing villages. Khanom is still one of the hidden paradises of Thailand, a real pearl!

Today you can enjoy a free day or, if you wish, take part in a wonderful optional excursion to discover the last pink dolphins and the island of Koh Nui.

Optional: An essential excursion by boat from Khanom to see the last pink dolphins, the Sousa Chinensis, which still survive in this region of Asia.

DAY 6: KHAO SOK NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, leave Khanom and head to Khao Sok National Park. A day through scenic landscapes of southern Thailand, known for its karst peaks climbing to the sky and its dense, deep green jungle.

After lunch at Discovery Restaurant, take a canoe trip with your guide (about 1 hour) on the Sok River. Enjoy splendid views of limestone cliffs, and the mountain range in the background. With a little luck, you’ll see hornbills, monkeys, and maybe even reptiles.

Stay two nights in luxury tents at Khao Sok Boutique Camps. After check-in, the rest of the afternoon is free.

In the evening, dinner is served at the hotel.

DAY 7: KHAO SOK NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, set off for a full day exploring the fantastic Cheow Lan Lake, the jewel of Khao Sok National Park and one of the most beautiful places in the world. Take long-tailed boat on the lake and crosswith over 100 islands with towering limestone cliffs that give the lake its fairy-tale scenery.

After lunch at a floating restaurant, start a trek (+/- 30 min.) through the dense tropical forest, the oldest primary forest in the world, and then continue for a short bamboo raft ride to the fascinating cave of Pakarang (Coral Cave).

After this discovery, take the long-tail boat to cross the lake and return to the pier, and return to your hotel.

In the evening, your dinner is served at the hotel.

DAY 8: KRABI

This morning wake up with the sounds of nature, the singing of birds or the vocalise of the Gibbon … Early morning is the best times of the day to spot wildlife. If you are lucky you might see monkeys swinging in the trees, hornbill flying, or even the passage of a wild elephant!

After breakfast, enjoy a last moment Zen, a moment of relaxation in nature.

Your hotel has organise then transfer in a private A/C vehicle with driver to your hotel on Tubkaek Beach in Krabi. After checking in at the hotel, it will be time to say goodbye to your guide who will let you enjoy the last days of relaxation on the beach before your return home.

DAY 11: END OF ITINERARY

After breakfast, enjoy the last few free moments until your transfer time to Krabi Airport.

You must check-out your room at 12.00, but you can leave your luggage at the hotel’s concierge desk.

Your driver will pick you up at the hotel reception for your transfer by private air-conditioned vehicle to Krabi Airport.
